The Electrical Post
Established in 1995, Premier Energies is one of India’s leading integrated solar manufacturing companies, with three decades of experience in photovoltaic technology. From Its humble beginnings in module assembly, Premier Energies has evolved into a scaled, technology-led manufacturing organisation with capabilities spanning solar cells and modules, supported by growing backward integration and investments across the clean energy value chain.
The energy transition phenomenon has entered a new phase. The focus is shifting from merely deploying renewable energy to delivering firm power solutions, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and resilient supply chains. What was once driven primarily by climate ambition is now equally shaped by energy security, industrial competitiveness and the immediate need for self-reliance. As clean energy infrastructure and domestic manufacturing scale up, long-term leadership will increasingly be determined by innovation, vertical integration, and consistent execution.
“India, backed by ambitious renewable targets and a supportive policy framework, is exceptionally well-placed to lead this global transformation. Premier Energies has positioned itself to capture this moment by consistently investing ahead of demand and expanding its strengths across the clean energy value chain. For over three decades, our evolution has been guided by a clear belief: enduring competitiveness comes from building in-house technology. We began as a solar module manufacturer, expanded into solar cells, and progressively developed one of India’s largest integrated photovoltaic platforms. Today, we are taking the next decisive leap. We are extending our footprint through upstream integration into ingots and wafers, while expanding into Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and transformers. This is a natural progression of our business model - enabling us to serve a wider spectrum of customer needs while creating compounding value across the renewable ecosystem.” Mr. Surenderpal Singh Saluja, Chairman, Premier Energy Limited stated in the annual report for FY 25-26
Record Performance Driven by Disciplined Execution
FY26 marked another landmark milestone in our journey, defined by record top-line expansion, enhanced margins, and sustained capital efficiency. Revenue from operations surged to INR 8,026 Crore, representing a robust 20.7% year-on-year increase. EBITDA grew by 35% year-on-year to ₹ 2,579 Crore. Bottom-line growth was equally strong as Profit After Tax expanded 61.1% year-on-year to INR 1,510 Crore. Throughout this period, we maintained exceptional capital discipline, yielding a Return on Capital Employed of 33.5%, a Return on Equity of 42.4%, and a Net Debt to EBITDA ratio of 0.41x. We closed the year with a robust order book standing at INR 14,010 Crore, representing 9,383 MW of production volume visibility.
Scaling Capabilities Across the Ecosystem
These financial achievements are the natural outcome of a long-term strategy that prioritises capability creation over short-term gains. Over the past year, we consciously expanded our integrated manufacturing ecosystem to fortify our competitiveness across the entire PV value chain. During FY26, our installed platform expanded to 11.1 GW of solar module capacity, following the commissioning of our state-of-the-art 5.6 GW facility and 3.6 GW solar cell capacity. We produced 3,570 MW modules and 2,268 MW cells, maintaining excellent capacity utilisation rates.
“Construction at our Naidupeta complex in Andhra Pradesh is progressing on schedule, with 10 GW of planned ingot and wafer capacity. We are aggressively scaling adjacent cleantech capabilities to capture emerging market demand and build a comprehensive ecosystem. In energy storage, we are progressing toward a 12 GWh containerised battery storage facility planned by 2028 to address surging grid-scale storage requirements. Simultaneously, we are establishing an 18,000 MTPA aluminium frame facility for captive consumption.” Mr. Saluja informed.
“Complementing these organic investments for captive consumption we completed 51% acquisition of Transcon Industries. This acquisition takes our operational transformer capacity to 6.75 GVA, with an upcoming 10 GVA Extra High Voltage facility (up to 765 kV) targeted for completion in Q3 2026 to further fortify our integrated growth trajectory,
“Diversifying into BESS and specialised grid equipment is expected to contribute 25% of consolidated revenues by 2030. Our integrated clean energy solutions strengthen long-term partnerships with leading EPC contractors and Independent Power Producers, positioning us as an indispensable end-to-end solutions partner.” He said.
Technology, Quality, and Manufacturing Excellence
Innovation remains central to our leadership. As photovoltaic technology advances rapidly, continuous product development and process refinement are essential. During the year, we accelerated our transition toward advanced N-Type TOPCon technology while enriching our portfolio with Zero Busbar solar cells and high-efficiency all-black modules. Concurrently, investments in plant automation, digital manufacturing, and AI-enabled quality controls have elevated process precision and yield consistency. The real-world quality of our engineering continues to receive global validation: Our modules were recognised as Top Performers in the Kiwa PVEL Module Reliability Scorecard for the third consecutive year.
Growing power demand, increasing adoption of energy storage, advancements in power electronics, grid modernisation, and localised manufacturing are reshaping the global clean energy landscape. Companies that anticipate these structural shifts and invest ahead of the curve will be the ones to build enduring enterprise value. By deepening upstream integration, broadening our cleantech portfolio, and maintaining rigorous financial discipline, the Company is preparing for its next phase of growth. We enter the new financial year with high visibility, strong operational tailwinds, and a clear strategic roadmap.
